Hello All.

My husband and I are looking to rebuild our company Web site; and thus why it hasn't and won't be available; as well as other things about the company. Currently we're debating what the new name should be. We didn't have the last name registered as it wasn't making any money yet...(Got to have products out there to make the money, and as of late I've been getting close to rebuilding all the work I lost back in May.) Anyways, we would like zoners opinions on the names we're currently looking at. As far as I know none of them are being used, but if you know different please let us know? As well as let us know which one you like better and why? I'd greatly appreciate it. As soon as we've decided on some things it will all be ready to go. *smile* Doing most of the Web site before all of this has been determined, but not a problem; find and replace. Anyways, here is the names:

Omega Star Software
Gamma Star Software
Platnum Star Software
Murcury Ware

If you've got any other suggestions we're open to hear it. *smile* Really liked Starsoft, but it wasn't available. Thanks to all who answer. I'll let you know our final decision and when everything is ready for viewing and so on.

One more thing. I guess knowing what the company does will help, huh? *grin* Anyways, we design software that is fully 100% accessible to the blind and visually impaired and appealing to the sighted. Our software ranges from games and other entertainment type programs to tools for programmers and anything in between.

LOL, I'll give it soon as I have it properly going, and here is the list again because I realize I didn't put commas between the names: Omega Star Software, Gamma Star Software, Platnum Star Software and Murcury Ware. Hope that helps.

I actually think Mercury Ware is cool. That's the one that jumped out at me from the list at least.

lol WC. I hope everything goes well for you and your husband's new website!!! As for what I think about a name, I too like murcury ware because to me, it sounds really cute. Hmmm. And as for a second choice, I would have to pick omega star ware! I hope this helps and again, good luck!

*sexy*

I'd actually advise against Omega star ware, since the word omega has some stigma attached. I like Murcury Ware, it rolls off the tongue better and it's kind of catchy.

Post 11 by Witchcraft (Account disabled) on Friday, 14-Oct-2005 8:10:22

What stigma are you spacifically referring to with omega star software? Just curious where your thoughts are heading. *smile* Thanks to the other responses; soon I'll tally up the selections and we'll decide. As I said before; I'll let everyone know our final decission on the matter.

Just in the way the greek letters, Alpha, Beta and Omega are used to describe social positions. They were originally used to identify positions in a pack of wolves, where the Alpha is the dominant leading male, the Beta is the next-in-line, subservient to the alpha, but eager to take over, and the Omega is the underdog, who will roll over and show submission for the rest of the pack. The terms are often used for people, to describe social organisations, business hierarchies, sexual dominance, etc. The one that sticks out for me for Omega, is when it's sometimes used in relation to the prison hierarchy, where the Omega inmate is the bitch, the weakling who places themselves completely under the power of an Alpha inmate in return for protection. It's not even that common a term, but it popped into my head, and personally, it would probably put me off choosing Omega for a company name. Just a thought though.

I do appreciate the thought. We had some reservations because of it meaning basically the last or the end. *smile* Just wanted other opinions.

Post 14 by Witchcraft (Account disabled) on Saturday, 15-Oct-2005 15:26:22

Ok, so far we've got 2 tied with three: Murcury Ware and Omega Star Software. And the other two are sitting at one vote each. Any more ideas and reasonings?

Post 15 by Wraith (Prince of Chaos) on Saturday, 15-Oct-2005 15:50:41

I'd go for Mercury Ware. Omega Star Software sounds a bit too redundant for me.

Post 16 by Witchcraft (Account disabled) on Saturday, 15-Oct-2005 18:06:57

I have two more to add. Double Star Ware and Lodestar Ware. The definitions are as follows:

Double Star:

a system of two stars that revolve around each other under their mutual gravitation

Lodestar:

guiding star; a star that is used as a reference point in navigation of astronomy

Any opinions?

Post 17 by PorkInCider (Wind assisted.) on Sunday, 16-Oct-2005 4:39:36

I think I'd go with Murcury Ware, simply because I don't feel enspired at all by the reference to star in all of the others.

Post 18 by Resonant (Find me alive.) on Sunday, 16-Oct-2005 5:05:30

Aww, double star is kind of sweet, since it's the two of you running the thing. I like that one, but I'll keep my vote with Murcury Ware.

Post 19 by Puggle (I love my life!) on Sunday, 16-Oct-2005 10:08:56

I go with murcurey as well

Post 20 by jessmonsilva (Taking over the boards, one topic at a time.) on Sunday, 16-Oct-2005 11:58:22

Hey Wc, I just realized something. Omega means the end, so why couldn't you make it alpha star software for the beginning.

Post 21 by Witchcraft (Account disabled) on Sunday, 16-Oct-2005 17:30:21

We considered that, but 1. The .com wasn't really available. and 2. My husband didn't much care for it. *smile*

Post 22 by jessmonsilva (Taking over the boards, one topic at a time.) on Sunday, 16-Oct-2005 17:45:09

Ah, ok. Smiles.

Post 23 by Witchcraft (Account disabled) on Sunday, 16-Oct-2005 18:05:04

We've dropped Omega and Platnum out. The first because of it's negative conutation and the second do to lack of interest. In all the people I've talked to; via phone, the zone, email, msn, only one truly liked it.

Post 24 by Witchcraft (Account disabled) on Monday, 17-Oct-2005 0:25:41

It looks like the votes are in, and we're going with Double Star. Thanks for all the help; we really do appreciate it. *smile*

Post 25 by Witchcraft (Account disabled) on Monday, 17-Oct-2005 3:33:13

First an explanation and then a correction. The explanation concerns the apparent votes and the actual. During this process we; my husband and me, were taking votes from many different sources. 1. The Zone. 2. The Phone. 3. MSN. 4. Email. Murcury Ware was a very close second, but some that we talked to via the phone didn't like all the "R" sounds. After Murcury Ware came Lode Star and then Gamma Star. Now for the correction. When we went to check the availability of doublestar.com or doublestars.com neither were available. So, we opted for a name that means the exact same thing. Dualstar.

Hmm Alpha star software. Witchy ware. smile and I like the Murcury one smile.
